The Serax Fish&Fish Decanter: Why has this bottle become a design icon?

There are objects that instantly bring a smile to your face. The Fish&Fish carafe is one of them.
You've probably already seen it: in trendy bistros, on Pinterest, or at the homes of friends with good taste. With its naive fish shape and raw texture, it has become one of Belgian brand Serax's absolute bestsellers. But did you know that behind this playful object lies one of Italy's greatest architects and a historic manufacturing technique?

    1. The Paola Navone touch

When Italian design meets Belgian publishing.

If this carafe has so much character, it's because it's signed Paola Navone.
This Italian designer is a legend. Known for her eclectic, globetrotting, and "non-conformist" style, she loves to re-imagine everyday objects. For Serax, she wanted to create a collection that doesn't take itself too seriously. She proves that a design object isn't necessarily cold or untouchable: it can be fun, sturdy, and joyful.

The collection is available in Jadeite green, milk white, transparent, and cobalt blue.

    2. A tribute to American Depression Glass

An industrial history of the 1930s.

    L'œil de l'expert

    What is "Pressed Glass"?
Look closely at the surface of the carafe. It's not smooth. You can see the mold seams, you can feel the texture. That's intentional!
Paola Navone was inspired by American utilitarian glass from the Great Depression (1930s). At the time, to create inexpensive and sturdy objects, glass was pressed into two-part industrial molds.
Serax has recreated this raw aesthetic. This is what gives the carafe its vintage, robust, and authentic feel. It's not fragile crystal; it's glass made for living!

« I like imperfections. I like it when objects have a soul and tell a simple story. »

    3. How to use it (not just for water)?

    - As a water carafe: Its one-liter capacity is standard. The "tail" of the fish provides a surprisingly ergonomic grip.

    - As a vase: This is its favorite alternative use. A few wildflowers or tulips, and the carafe becomes a magnificent sculptural vase.

    - For cocktails: The clear version is superb for serving iced tea or lemonade with lemon slices visible through the textured glass.

    What is the exact capacity?
The Fish&Fish bottle contains 1 Litre. It's the ideal size for a meal for two or four, without being too heavy to carry once full.
    Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes, absolutely! It's thick pressed glass, dyed in the mass. The color won't fade (it's not a glued plastic film) and the glass is very resistant to thermal shocks in the dishwasher.
