Bed and Philosophy: The art of washed linen and "Slow Living" in your home.

There's household linen that's neatly folded and stored in cupboards, and then there's the linen you live with. Bed and Philosophy definitely falls into the latter category.
Created in Toulouse by Sonia Provost, the brand has revolutionized our sofas with a simple yet bold idea: chic is comfort. Gone are the stiff cushions that are afraid of stains. Here, we're talking about washed linen, living materials, mother-of-pearl buttons, and colors with a soul.

    1. Washed Linen: Why do we love it so much?

    Soft, eco-friendly, and thermoregulating.

Should you iron your Bed and Philosophy cushions?
Absolutely not! That's the whole concept of the brand. The washed linen has undergone intensive washing during manufacturing to "break" the fiber.
This is what gives it that naturally wrinkled look and ultra-soft feel (unlike raw linen which can be rough). Ironing a Bed and Philosophy cushion would strip it of all its charm. Take it out of the machine, air dry it, and throw it on the sofa. That's "Slow Life."

Bed and Philosophy's washed linen offers a unique color palette thanks to "Garment Dye" dyeing.

    2. Roundness and the Bud: The visual signature

The giant round model that made the brand a success.

If you had to choose just one, it would undoubtedly be the round cushion (often called "Rond").
Why? Because it breaks the rigidity of modern sofas, which are often very rectangular and angular. Placing a large round linen cushion among square cushions immediately adds softness and volume.
The brand is also recognizable by its signature detail: small mother-of-pearl or engraved buttons, often accompanied by a poetic or humorous message embroidered or screen-printed.

« I wanted to create a world where you feel good, where you want to snuggle up. Colors that vibrate and blend endlessly. »

    3. How to mix colours?

    - The Cameo: Stick to the same family. Mix a Curry (mustard yellow), a Tobacco and a Sand. It's warm and very trendy.

    - The Contrast: On a grey or beige sofa, dare to use a strong colour like Klein (electric blue) or Fard (powder pink) to liven up the room.

    - The Accumulation: Don't be afraid to overdo it. The bohemian chic style is based on abundance. Mix sizes (the giant 85x85cm on the floor, the medium ones on the seat).

    Is linen fragile?
On the contrary! Linen is one of the most durable natural fibers (much more so than cotton). It doesn't pill and softens with each wash. It's a lasting investment that develops a beautiful patina over time.
Does the color hold up after washing?
Yes, because Bed and Philosophy often uses the "Garment Dye" technique (dyeing on finished pieces) or vat dyes. However, as linen is a living material, the color may subtly vary over the years, which adds to its sought-after vintage look. Always wash at 30°C or 40°C.
