À propos de la pièce

Zanotta's Joy bookshelf embodies the union of sculptural design and functionality. Created in 1989 by Achille Castiglioni, this iconic piece transforms storage into an object of contemplation thanks to its pivoting shelves.

The Joy stands out for its sleek architecture: a central painted steel cylinder around which rotating planes articulate, constantly redefining your space. Available in 5 or 7-shelf configurations, it combines the poetic circularity of a spiral staircase with the rigor of Italian design. This hybrid furniture, part sculpture and part storage, offers unparalleled flexibility for displaying your art collections, books, and prestigious objects.

The Zanotta brand

Founded in 1954 in Lombardy, Zanotta has established itself as one of the major protagonists of Italian design furniture. Under the impetus of Aurelio Zanotta, the company cultivates innovation as its philosophy: each creation pushes the boundaries between function and form. A historical partner of major designers, Zanotta perpetuates the excellence of transalpine design.

The Joy bookshelf rests on a robust painted steel structure, guaranteeing stability and durability. Its rotating panel shelves allow for intuitive and fluid manipulation, while its cylindrical geometry makes it an architectural element in its own right. Timeless, it adapts to contemporary interiors as well as high-end renovations, whether minimalist or eclectic. Museum-quality finishes and German engineering of the rotating system ensure uncompromising daily use.

For the art and design enthusiast, the Joy becomes a true collector's item. It excels in large living spaces, exceptional offices, or private galleries where aesthetic storage is paramount. Its playful and sculptural character creates remarkable decorative scenes: it captures light, arranges prestigious books in a spiral, and transforms each consultation into a desired, rather than utilitarian, gesture. A symbol of Italian art de vivre for demanding interiors.

Conseils & usage

Questions fréquentes

Retrouvez les réponses essentielles pour choisir, utiliser et entretenir cette pièce.

Is the unit stable when the shelves are unfolded?
Yes, the base is weighted and the steel axle is designed to support the cantilever of the shelves, even when they are deployed asymmetrically. That's the genius of Castiglioni's engineering.
Is the anti-scratch finish effective?
The embossed lacquer finish (slightly granular texture) is specifically developed to resist everyday micro-scratches, which is ideal for a piece of furniture where objects are frequently placed and moved.
Can it be put in a corner?
Absolutely. It's even one of its best uses. By rotating the shelves 90°, it perfectly fits into the corners of a room, transforming a lost corner into a designer storage space.
